Looking for skip-hire prices?

The price of renting a skip varies based on the size needed. Mini skips start at approximately £190, with larger skips potentially reaching up to £400 in cost. While the size of the skip largely dictates the hire cost, several other factors can also impact the price.

Our skip hire guide will explain everything you need to know about hiring a skip and provide you with a comprehensive list of our skips and their hire prices.

Our Skip Options and Pricing

Mini 2-Yard Skip  £190

The mini 2-yard skip is our smallest skip option, perfect for minor garden waste removal or small house clearance. It can hold up to 2 cubic yards of waste, with approximate dimensions of 1.3m wide x 1.9m long x 1m high.

Midi 4-Yard Skip  £220

For medium-sized waste removal, our 4-yard midi skip is a perfect choice. This skip, which measures approximately 1.6m wide x 2.5m long x 1.1m high, can hold up to 4 cubic yards of waste, making it an ideal choice for house, garage, or garden clearances.

Large 6-Yard Skip  £260

Our 6-yard builders skip is suitable for small to medium-sized construction and renovation projects, with dimensions of roughly 1.8m wide x 3.5m long x 1.1m high.

Extra Large 8-Yard Skip: £290

For bigger waste removal jobs, we offer an 8-yard enclosed skip. This skip can handle major amounts of waste thanks to its dimension of 1.8m wide x 3.7m long x 1.3m high, and it’s perfect for a wide array of waste, including rubble, soil, garden, and general waste.

Extra Extra Large 10-Yard Skip: £315

Our 10-yard skip is ideal for bulky yet lighter clearance jobs. Although it can’t handle soil or dense rubble due to its extra height (dimensions: 1.8m wide x 3.3m long x 1.5m high), it provides ample capacity for other lightweight waste materials.

Extra Extra Extra Large 12-Yard Skip: £345

The 12-yard skip is our most enormous offering, suitable for extra-large waste removal jobs. It is perfect for bulky yet light waste items because, despite its large size (1.8m wide x 4m long x 1.8m high), it can’t accommodate dense soil or rubble.

Factors Impacting the Price

Beyond size, there are a few other factors that impact the price such as:

  • Skip Size

The size of the skip is one of the most influential determinants of its hire cost. Mini skips are perfect for small projects, while larger tasks demand massive roll-on roll-off skips.

  • Duration of Hire

The length of time you will require the skip also impacts cost. Extended rental periods would naturally result in higher costs.

  • Permit Requirements

If the skip’s placement is on public land, you will need a council permit, which can add extra fees depending on the council’s rules. At Norman Wenn, we can handle the process of obtaining the permit and include the cost in your quote.

Types of Waste: What Can or Cannot Go Into a Skip

Be mindful that not all items or materials can be disposed of in a skip. For instance, hazardous waste, asbestos, tyres, batteries, medical waste, gas cylinders, and electrical appliances are generally prohibited.

If such items are found in your skip, charges for professional disposal methods as well as additional labour costs might apply. On the other hand, permissible items include garden waste, bricks, rubble, soil, plastic, metal, wood, domestic waste, and more. Solidified paint, cardboard, tiles, ceramics, and non-electrical fixtures are also usually accepted.
